• Instagram's two cofounders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, are leaving the company.

  • The duo currently serve as the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app's CEO and CTO respectively.

  • According to a report from Bloomberg, the departures come "after growing tensions with [Facebook CEO] Mark Zuckerberg over the direction of the product.

  • It comes after months of chaos and scandals for Facebook.

Mike and I are grateful for the last eight years at Instagram and six years with the Facebook team. We’ve grown from 13 people to over a thousand with offices around the world, all while building products used and loved by a community of over one billion. We’re now ready for our next chapter.

We’re planning on leaving Instagram to explore our curiosity and creativity again. Building new things requires that we step back, understand what inspires us and match that with what the world needs; that’s what we plan to do.

We remain excited for the future of Instagram and Facebook in the coming years as we transition from leaders to two users in a billion. We look forward to watching what these innovative and extraordinary companies do next.

Kevin Systrom, Co-Founder & CEO

Facebook HACKED: 50 MILLION accounts !

Written by

Facebook has today revealed a huge data breach that affected 50 million accounts worldwide. Attackers managed to exploit a feature that allowed them to take over scores of Facebook user accounts. The social networking giant has said they have fixed the vulnerability and informed officials. In a post online Guy Rosen, Facebook’s VP or Product Management, said: “On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 25, our engineering team discovered a security issue affecting almost 50 million accounts.

“We’re taking this incredibly seriously and wanted to let everyone know what’s happened and the immediate action we’ve taken to protect people’s security. “Our investigation is still in its early stages. Around 90 million Facebook users were forced to log out of their accounts today as a safety precaution after the breach was discovered. “But it’s clear that attackers exploited a vulnerability in Facebook’s code that impacted “View As”, a feature that lets people see what their own profile looks like to someone else.

“This allowed them to steal Facebook access tokens which they could then use to take over people’s accounts. “Access tokens are the equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged in to Facebook so they don’t need to re-enter their password every time they use the app.” Rosen added: “This attack exploited the complex interaction of multiple issues in our code. It stemmed from a change we made to our video uploading feature in July 2017, which impacted “View As.”

“The attackers not only needed to find this vulnerability and use it to get an access token, they then had to pivot from that account to others to steal more tokens. “Since we’ve only just started our investigation, we have yet to determine whether these accounts were misused or any information accessed. “We also don’t know who’s behind these attacks or where they’re based. We’re working hard to better understand these details — and we will update this post when we have more information, or if the facts change. In addition, if we find more affected accounts, we will immediately reset their access tokens.”

Facebook is used by more than two billion people each month. WhatsApp and Instagram, also Facebook owned social networks, are also used by two billion users every month. The news comes hot on the heels of the Cambridge Analytica scandal earlier this year. In a statement in response to this, Facebook co-founder Mark Zucerkberg at the time said: “We have a responsibility to protect your data, and if we can’t then we don’t deserve to serve you.” Security experts have warned that the Facebook data breach could lead to a rise in phishing attacks from scammers trying to capitalise on it. Oz Alashe, CEO of cyber security platform CybSafe, said: “Facebook is going by the book notifying authorities as soon as it detected this vulnerability, and it should be applauded for its quick action.

“However, with a security issue as high profile as this one, it’s likely that phishing attacks will swiftly follow urging recipients to change their Facebook passwords via an email and then directing them to a malicious phishing site. “It’s important to be extra vigilant, to follow Facebook’s instructions on the site or app, but do not act on unsolicited emails unless you are able to verify the sender.”

Explore Space With Solar System AR Toy

Written by

Becoming an astronaut is tough. First, you need a degree in engineering, math, or science, and have at least three years of field experience. Second, you have to pass an incredibly demanding physical examination.

And even if you do get selected, you have to undergo training which involves squeezing yourself into tiny simulators and gaining fluency in Russian. Oh, and once you finally get to go on a deep-space mission, you also have to trust the universe not to let you end up in space.

Just because it's almost impossible to get into a space program, doesn't mean you can't explore the solar system. The Solar System Mini Set offers a unique celestial experience, and you can play with it in the comfort of your home (you can even eat space cheese if you want).

Engineered using 3D printing technology, the 3 cm planet models are optimized to work with augmented reality technology so you can see each one's character up close. When you pair the planets with the app, you can inspect them in amazing detail, complete with features like atmospheres, moons, and rings. It works in real time, too. The mini replica can be light or dark depending on the time you explore as it mirrors how the actual planet rotates into daylight.

Apple Watch Series 4 Announced

Written by

Apple Watch Series 4 announced with new sizes, ECG monitor – and a huge new screen, Apple watch series 4 is more than an evolution, it represents a fundamental redesign and re-engineering Apple watch. The iconic design has been refined.

While Apple has retained the rectangular shape of the Watch, it’s moving up in size for 2018. The Series 4 will come in 40mm and 44mm versions, increasing both the smaller and larger designs by 2mm each. And for good reason: to make room for a new, 30%-larger display. To date, Apple’s done a great job of obscuring the bezel on its smartwatches, but there’s most certainly been a lot of it. The display on the Series 4 is much larger, allowing you to cram even more complications and info onto that screen.

New health-monitoring features are almost a given. Fitness is one of the top uses for Apple Watch, and additional tools to look for heart problems and other maladies has been expected for some time.
